NEP Product and Sales Strategy Support Consulting

Drawing from our unique understanding of the network and operations architectures deployed in the Regional Bell Operating Companies, Telcordia can provide the following architectural analysis to support the development of product and sales strategies for NGN SONET equipment manufacturers.

Since many of the systems that support RBOC operations are made by Telcordia Technologies, a supplier specifically needs support in Telcordia Operations Support Systems (OSSs) in order to target an RBOC customer. Many suppliers consider the Telcordia® OSMINE Services process a key to the RBOC marketplace, because it was developed to help ensure the integration of a network element into a Telcordia OSS environment.

How Can Telcordia Help?

Telcordia will identify feasible approaches for managing a vendor’s equipment in a typical RBOC operational environment. We will describe various operations architectures and high-level process flows, including alternatives, for end-to-end processes such as issuing a service order (new, add, change, delete), fault management, surveillance, trouble ticketing, and testing. This work will focus on service activation and service assurance.

We can provide examples of representative RBOC operations process flows supporting provisioning, fault, and surveillance functions relative to the deployment of Telcordia systems such as TIRKS, NMA, NSDB, Transport Element Activation Manager and WFA/C. These flows will focus on representative data inputs and outputs of these systems from a data perspective. Applicable GFDSs will also be identified.

We will identify the protocols that are used to exchange information between Telcordia systems; and between Telcordia systems and network elements that would be managed in typical RBOC operations environments. Examples of these protocols would be Transaction Language 1 (TL1), ASCII, etc.

We can provide consultation regarding an Element Management System (EMS) and Network Elements fit in RBOC operations environments, including an identification of the vendor’s functionality that could be mechanized using Telcordia systems and the functionality that would require RBOC manual assistance. Telcordia will identify any functional gaps in the capabilities of Telcordia systems that are deployed in typical RBOC operations environments relative to the capabilities of vendor’s equipment.
