Telcordia's James Payne Named to AFCEA Cyber Committee
Joins Preeminent Leadership in U.S. Cyber Community, Addresses New Challenges in Protection of Nation's Vital Assets
PISCATAWAY, NJ - February 3, 2011 - Telcordia, a global leader in the development of IP, wireline, and mobile telecommunications software and services, proudly announced that James "Jim" F. X. Payne, Senior Vice President/General Manager of National Security and Cyber Infrastructure, was named to the prestigious AFCEA International Cyber Committee for a three-year term. AFCEA International is a non-profit association serving the military, government, industry and academia to advance professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence and global security. The Cyber Committee coordinates the organization's outreach to the cyber community, collaborating with the private and public sectors.
The Committee serves as a forum to develop new ideas regarding cyber challenges and capabilities, supports AFCEA chapters and members worldwide, and strives to contribute to global cyber security. The Committee will support the cyber challenges and needs of the entire national security community, as well as those of the nation's allies. According to Brent Greene, President, Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS) at Telcordia, the members of the Committee are a veritable "who's who" of the nation's cyber community.
"Committee members include many of the world's 'top cyber warriors' who protect this nation's vital assets, and Jim's inclusion onto this very select team honors both him and Telcordia," said Greene. "Jim and this Committee's work will help ensure the security and safety of our national communications and utilities infrastructure."
Payne, a recognized expert in the high technology federal market, has served on numerous Presidential advisory committees, including as chair of the operating committees of President Bush's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) and as a strategic industry member on the NTIA Bush Task Force "Interdependency between Telecommunications and Power."
