Real-Time Charging Makes Users the Golden Asset
Forces are conspiring to marginalize service providers and suppress telecom profits. Among them: voice and data are now commodities; telecoms everywhere are evolving (albeit at different rates) toward similar, advanced capabilities; and over the top players are commandeering value from customer transactions. Service providers must find a way to stop the bleeding and reinvigorate profits for the long-term.
This paper argues that real-time charging can be the catalyst that allows Communications Service Providers (CSPs) to respond to this challenge. It allows all types of service providers to embrace a paradigm shift recognizing network users, not network equipment, as the key asset. This frame of reference can reinvent both the customer and service provider experience by revealing exciting ways to monetize subscriber relationships, while giving customers new powers to control and benefit from their communications activities.
