White Paper:
Geospatial Planning & Engineering
The network planning market was originally dominated by generic software such as desktop publishing software and CAD that was not specifically built for network design, let alone telecoms network design. Many telecoms operators used either paper map-based manual or in-house developed tools to aid the process. However, with the dawn of complex networks and the need for competitive business processes, telecoms operators started to become aware of the advantages that integrated, scalable, software, open and able to visualise both network data and geospatial information, would offer.
Several players have now entered the market with network planning software capable of interfacing with inventory management systems to integrate the design process with several facets of the business process, including service provisioning, network monitoring and status reporting, troubleshooting and error restoration.
